Hocus and Lotus (LH1-LH2)

METHOD AND RATIONALE

Started within a European Project and developed here since 1993. It consists of collectively dramatised stories, 6 stories each year. These stories are in dialogue form and the pupils act out and live the experiences in English. The method is not based on any linguistic syllabus but rather reflects the way in which children learn their own languages in natural contexts.

The stories are supplemented by songs, rhymes, posters, puppets, storybooks, flashcards, worksheets, games etc; some of which go over the story and some of which generalise the story language to more general and personal contexts.

In this cycle, the pupils begin to work with the stories in a written form. The emphasis is on motivating the pupils to experiment with and enjoy the written language, not on correct reading and writing.

METODO ETA ARRAZOIKETA

1993. urtean Europako proiektu baten barruan hasi zen eta geroztik bertan garatzen ari da. Kolektiboki antzeztutako istorioez osaturik dago, ikasturte bakoitzeko 6 istorio lantzen direlarik. Istorio horiek elkarrizketa moduan daude, ikasleek antzeztu ditzaten eta ingelesez esperientziak bizitzeko. Metodoa ez da inolako hizkuntza programatan oinarritzen, baizik eta, umeek, beren ama hizkuntzan egiten duten bezala, atzerriko hizkuntza testuinguru naturaletan islatzen dute.

Istorioez gain erabiltzen den material osagarria; abestiak, errimak, kartelak, txotxongiloak, ipuin, txartelak, fitxak, jolasak etab dira. Horietako batzuk istorioari buruzkoak, eta beste batzuk testuinguru orokorrago zein pertsonalago batean oinarrituak atzerriko hizkuntza orokortzeko helburua dutenak.

Ziklo honetan, ipuinak lantzerako orduan, haurrak hizkuntza idatziarekin hasiko dira, irakur-idazketarekin. Ziklo honen helburua, ikasleak irakur-idazketarekin motibatzea izanen litzateke, esperimentatuz eta gozatuz.Helburu nagusia ez da inolaz ere izanen zuzen irakurri eta idaztearena.
